Master of Buddhism
Lesson 13 – Vajrayana Buddhism
Questions
Exercise:
1. What do you think it is about Vajrayana that makes it appeal to so many Westerners? I think Vajrayana Buddhism appeals to so many Westerners because it is said to be the quickest path to enlightenment. A practitioner could potentially become enlightened in only one lifetime.
2. Which of the three paths—Theravada, Mahayana, or Vajrayana, appeals most to you? Why? Out of all three paths, I like them all. But, perhaps I like Vajrayana Buddhism the most, especially the Tibetan school of Vajrayana. I think it appeals to me most because I've read some of the Dalai Llama's books and I think he is truly a holy man.
3. Are there practices in Vajrayana which could be beneficial to all sentient beings? If so, which ones? Yes, I think there are practices in Vajrayana which could benefit all sentient beings. I think the Tantric methods used in Vajrayana Buddhism such as using Mantras, Mandalas, and Mudras would help sentient beings to become more attuned to nature.
